First, my eventual plan was to get some sport 530's, so I didn't see the logic in buying the expensive 3" 4-bolt downpipes at all. I also figured that instead of buying any cats (random tech or autozone), I could buy the 3" test pipes with resonators for nearly the same price. I spoke with Greg and he even informed me that in area's like mine where tests are as strict (but they do exist), that many people leave them on as they look like high flow cats. I already passed the smog part, so I am not worried about the actual function of the cat (I know I can pass without it). I figured that since I was planning to possibly buy the 3" test pipes, why not just speed up the process and get the whole system I was wanting. I don't see where any of this doesn't make some sense so far. Yes, I am spending like $3k on parts instead of $300 on new cats, but I am actually not wasting any money here (like I would be on buying cats I don't need), and only speeding up my plans for upgrading. I also knew it had been said it was easier to remove the turbo's by pulling the engine. I just didn't know HOW difficult it was to do from below, and if having access to a lift and more room due to the megan split downpipes made it any easier. I am not new to this stuff, and I was just trying to get some input from fellow people.
